A streamer is a type of fly that mimics small fish or other prey hunted by predator fish. Streamers are used year-round, especially when predator fish are active, and they are effective in both flowing and still waters. The angler casts out the streamer and retrieves it through the water with jerky movements to imitate a swimming bait, which attracts predator fish such as trout and pike to strike.
