A streamer is a type of fly that mimics small fish or other prey hunted by predatory fish. Streamers are used year-round, especially when predatory fish are active, and they are effective in both flowing and still waters. The angler casts out the streamer and retrieves it through the water with jerky movements to imitate a swimming bait, which attracts predatory fish such as trout and pike to strike.
