A streamer is a type of fly that imitates small fish or other prey hunted by predatory fish. Streamers are used year-round, especially when predatory fish are active, and they are effective in both moving and still waters. The angler casts out the streamer and retrieves it through the water with jerky movements to mimic a swimming bait, which attracts predator fish like trout and pike to strike.
